Introducing Simone Bliss

Simone Bliss is a landscape architect and creative director of the national award‑winning SBLA Studio, with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Honours) from RMIT University.

She has around eighteen years’ experience spanning masterplanning, feasibility studies and full design services for projects ranging from city‑scale work to bespoke furniture and custom play elements, and was recently appointed to the City of Melbourne’s Design Review Panel.

Before founding SBLA Studio she worked on major Australian and international projects, including Auckland Waterfront, RMIT University Vietnam, the Ensessakotteh wildlife sanctuary near Addis Ababa and the Pod Playground at the National Arboretum in Canberra, building a portfolio of nationally and internationally awarded work.

Her innovation and creativity are widely recognised, with honours such as the 2020 National and State AILA awards for System Garden Boardwalk and Nightingale 2.0, along with multiple design and sustainability awards for Nightingale 2.0.

Simone is a sought‑after speaker, having delivered keynotes and talks at events including Taiwan’s PlayForAll International Conference (2019), the AILA–IFLA Landscape Conference (2019) and the Architeam Conference (2021), and she continues to advocate for inclusive, playful, climate‑responsive landscapes in both her practice and public work.

Current projects: Garden advice, regeneration of agricultural landscapes, landscape architecture, waste-reuse, thinking of our future.
