"When I was a little girl I had a family friend who taught me how to garden. She would let me dig and potter around her magnificent inner Melbourne Garden, sending me home with a cutting or packet of seeds to try my hand at home. For as long as I can remember I have always had a vegetable garden. In fact I avoided nearly an entire architecture degree by devoting more and more of my garden to the production of fruit and vegetables resulting in extravagant homemade Christmas hampers for every family member. Coupled with my background as a landscape architect, I'm passionate about how productive gardens can be beautiful landscape experiences as well and places of  production and harvest."

This workshop will share Natasha's passion for productive gardens, kitchen gardens and potagers, cut flower gardens and orchards.  Natasha will share the productive landscapes of Oak and Monkey Puzzle, the vision for their design, aspirations and inspirations, design, construction and planting.

Course includes:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of productive landscapes, heirloom and beneficial plants, seasonality, soils and design principles as explored through the design and construction of Oak and Monkey Puzzle's kitchen and cut flower gardens and orchards.

  • Participants will receive a garden design kit, guided tour of the property, seminar on productive landscapes and garden design principles and opportunity to develop their newly acquired productive garden design skills.

  • Oak and Monkey Puzzle workshops include morning tea (homemade cake, tea, coffee and organic seasonal beverage), a 2 course garden lunch picked fresh from the estate kitchen garden and local seasonal produce – such as slow cooked Jonai Meatsmiths pork, garden greens and salads and homemade sourdough bread all made by Natasha Morgan.

This workshop requires no previous knowledge and is set in a relaxed and informal environment where participants can ask questions, chat and enjoy all that is Oak and Monkey Puzzle with respected landscape architect, passionate gardener and teacher, Natasha Morgan.
